Dracula

October 8-9 & 14-16  |  Knight Theater

Dracula - a ballet worth sinking your teeth into! Prepare to be seduced by Mark Godden’s passionate and stirring Dracula, complete with flying bats, mysterious transformations and of course, superb dancing. “One thing is for sure, its delicious vampires and crazed gargoyles were more erotic than anything you’ll have trick or treating at your front door,” wrote reviewer Ann Hicks. 

Trick ‘r Treat
October 16-17 | Knight Theater

From picking the perfect costume to amusing Halloween pranks, the spooky and silly Trick ‘R Treat takes kids on a Halloween adventure. Come along on this Halloween escapade, choreographed by Mark Diamond, and find out what happens when you dare to trick or treat at the old, creepy mansion in town! Young patrons are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes!
Innovative Works
November 11-13 | Knight Theater

The popular Innovative Works series goes GREEN ! This year, contemporary choreography meets themes of conservation, pollution, waste and the environment. Based on the successful Green Pieces performed in Chautauqua, N.Y., in 2009, Innovative Works features choreographers Mark Diamond, David Ingram, Sasha Janes and Dwight Rhoden.
Nutcracker
December 10-12 & 17-19 | Belk Theater

Nutcracker
, Charlotte’s favorite holiday tradition, celebrates the sights and sounds of the holiday season. This beloved holiday classic, choreographed by Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, transports audiences to a joyous holiday party, the majestic Land of Snow and the delectable Land of Sweets. No holiday journey is complete without a visit to Nutcracker!
Director’s Choice
40th Anniversary Performance
March 10-12 | Knight Theater


Celebrate Dance Theatre’s 40th Anniversary with Director’s Choice! Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux chose Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux by legendary choreographer and Bonnefoux’s teacher and mentor George Balanchine, Satto by former Dance Theatre Artistic Director Salvatore Aiello, and Le souffle de l’esprit by Czechoslovakian dancer turned choreographer Jiri Bubenicek. Coordinating with the centennial celebration of Charlotte artist Romare Bearden, Resident Choreographer Dwight Rhoden presents a world premiere inspired by the life and work of Bearden.
Little Mermaid
March 12-13 | Knight Theater

Dive into the underwater world of Mark Diamond’s Little Mermaid! The Hans Christian Anderson tale comes to life with colorful fish, sparkling seahorses, slithering eels and tumbling starfish. Despite warnings by her father, the Sea King, the Little Mermaid can’t help but to be curious of humans on dry land. After swimming to the surface one day, the Little Mermaid falls in love with a handsome Prince who she dreams of joining on land. Children of all ages will enjoy following the Little Mermaid as she discovers a whole new world!
Spotlight
An evening of Women Choreographers
April 28-30 | Knight Theater


Women choreographers take full focus in Spotlight! The stage lights up with The Golden Section, an exhilarating work by dance icon Twyla Tharp. Legendary choreographer Martha Graham’s influence radiates throughout Requiem, a piece by former Graham Company dancer Jacqulyn Buglisi. Up-and-coming choreographer Emery Lecrone, former NC Dance Theatre 2 Company dancer and North Carolina native, presents a new work especially for Spotlight!
