Staff Updates from North Carolina Dance Theatre and
North Carolina Dance Theatre School of Dance
Charlotte, N.C. (October 2, 2007) – North Carolina Dance Theatre is pleased to announce Alissa Mroz as the new education and outreach coordinator. Mroz, a Charlotte native, will be assisting Director of Education and Outreach April Berry. Mroz is a recent cum laude graduate of the College of Charleston where she earned a B.A. in arts management with a minor in theatre. Last spring she completed an internship with the education department of the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, S.C. She has also been an intern with the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and a volunteer at the Charleston Museum and the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry. Jacki McCarthy, who has been with the NC Dance Theatre School of Dance for 3 years as an administrator and faculty member, is joining Dance Theatre's development team as development associate. She will be handling special events and assisting with the annual fund. McCarthy graduated from Winthrop University in 2004. She has recently returned to Winthrop to pursue a master's degree in arts administration. McCarthy can be reached at 704.372.0101 x 112 or jmccarthy@ncdance.org.
Replacing McCarthy as the summer intensive and trainee/ apprentice administrator is Alexis Ingram. Ingram is originally from Miami, where she trained at New World School of the Arts. She has recently performed with Dance Kaleidoscope, The Indianapolis Opera, Moving Collective and Empujón. In 2003, Ingram graduated from Butler University with a degree in Dance Pedagogy and has since taught at Jordan College Academy of Dance and the Louisville Ballet School. Ingram is also a trained Pilates instructor and a Licensed Instructor of Nurturing Pathways® Early Childhood Creative Dance, a class Alexis will be offering in our School. Also joining the NC Dance Theatre School of Dance is Lauren Morris, the new assistant to the school director. Morris will assist with administrative duties for Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker performance and for the Repertory, Junior & Student Ensembles. Morris is a native of Charlotte and holds a BFA in dance from Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss. She is currently working towards her M.A. in Dance Education through UNC-Greensboro. Morris will also be joining the faculty of the School of Dance, teaching Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet and Beginning Ballet. Morris can be reached 704.372.0101 x116 or lmorris@ncdance.org.
