'Think You Can Dance?' features NCDT choreographer

Two contestants on Fox television's “So You Think You Can Dance?” will perform choreography by N.C. Dance Theatre's Dwight Rhoden on tonight's show.

Katee Shean and Will Wingfield will dance to John Lennon's "Imagine" as choreographed by Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, according to an announcement from Complexions Contemporary Ballet, the New York troupe Rhoden and Richardson direct. Rhoden has been NCDT's resident choreographer since 2006, creating several works for the company each season.

Producers of the Fox show saw Complexions perform in Los Angeles in April, Rhoden explained in a statement. Because of the troupe's touring schedule, this month was the first opportunity for Rhoden and Richardson to choreograph for the TV dance contest. The two men worked with Shean and Wingfield last Friday and Saturday.

The new pas de deux, lasting about 90 seconds, uses a recording of "Imagine" by former "American Idol" contestant David Archuleta. Fox's dance-contest show has zeroed in on its top 10 contestants. Tonight's episode starts at 8 on WCCB-TV Channel 18.
