North Carolina Dance Theatre Announces
New Director of Development

Charlotte, N.C. (August 6, 2007) – After a thorough and competitive search, Anthony M. Wright is joining North Carolina Dance Theatre as director of development. Wright is a native of Orangeburg, S.C., with strong community ties throughout the triangle region. He attended the North Carolina Central University School of Law and earned a bachelor’s degree from South Carolina State University.

Wright has more than a decade of experience advising and working with community, corporate, nonprofit and government leaders on a variety of community building and public policy initiatives. His areas of expertise include managing corporate philanthropic programs, developing and implementing strategic plans, and performing diverse external relations assignments.

Wright formerly served as assistant manager for the Combined Federal Campaign in the National Capital Region, campaign manager for a North Carolina Senate re-election campaign, director of corporate relations for a North Carolina entertainment firm, development officer at South Carolina State University, and has assisted numerous nonprofit and private programs.  He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Duke University AIDS Research and Treatment Center Community Advisory Board.

As director of development, Wright will coordinate the operations of government and private agency grant applications, foundation support, private donors and training programs. He will also facilitate the establishment and enhancement of public-private partnerships that directly support the outreach efforts of the North Carolina Dance Theatre and its education programs.
