PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Come dance with us! A key component of Dance Theatre’s programs is our nationally recognized Dance Educator Enrichment Program (DEEP) and Primary Educator Enrichment Program (PEEP). DEEP sessions for dance specialists focus on broadening professional knowledge through Dance Theatre’s Capturing Creativity curriculum units. PEEP sessions for K-5 classroom and special area teachers introduce dance concepts and give educators tools and resources for using dance and movement activities in their classrooms.

Workshops

Workshops are offered free of charge to all Charlotte-Mecklenburg School teachers and for a nominal charge to other teachers.  Continuing education credits are available.

This lesson plan was created by Sharon Elementary teacher Lea Harkins after she participated in Dance Theatre's September Primary Educators Enrichment Program workshop. The workshop was called Story-telling through Movement: Beauty and the Beast and was inspired by the Beauty and the Beast ballet.

This lesson plan was created by Collinswood Elementary music teacher Robin Lyles after she participated in Dance Theatre’s March Primary Educators Enrichment Program workshop. The workshop was called Who Cares?: Seeing the Music, Hearing the Dance and was based around George Balanchine’s ballet Who Cares?.
