Professional Company Performances
Students of the North Carolina Dance Theatre School of Dance have the opportunity to perform with the professional company at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center or Knight Theater in some of the larger ballets in the repertoire. Each year over 100 students perform in the Company’s annual production of Nutcracker.

Student Performing Companies

Student Ensemble 4 - Pre-Professional Intermediate/Advanced Level
Repertory Ensemble - Pre-Professional Division
Membership in these student companies allows dancers to support their classroom training with valuable performance experience. Students work with a variety of choreographers who challenge them in classical and contemporary works. Each company has its own annual performance as well as appearances in a variety of local venues and regional dance festivals. The NC Dance Theatre Repertory Ensemble is an honor company with SERBA, an affiliate of Regional Dance America.
Director’s Forum
Student and Repertory Ensemble members enjoy a lecture series with the School Director and invited guest speakers exploring dance-related topics such as dance history, nutrition, injury prevention, stage make-up, pointe shoe care and selection, college offerings, career opportunities in the arts and viewing of dance videos. This class will meet once a month on Saturday’s during Ensemble rehearsal time periods. Parents of Ensemble members are welcome to attend.
Spring Student Performances
The School’s annual year-end performance is held at the beautiful Blumenthal Performing Arts Center the first Saturday in June, for students in the Children’s, Intermediate, Advanced and Pre-Professional Divisions. There is a performance fee of $50 which you will find included on your registration form. For students in the Early Dance Division, a showcase is held at the NC Dance Theatre Studios for families and friends. There is no performance fee charged for the showcase. |
