Melissa, a Miami native, received her BFA in Dance from the University of South Florida. In 2010, her choreography Stained Glass was selected by the American College of Dance Festival to be performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Melissa trained at New World School of the Arts and spent summers with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Boston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet and Chautauqua Ballet. In 2012, Melissa was nominated for a Princess Grace Award. Some of her favorite performances in which she has had the honor of dancing include Bill T. Jones’ Serenade/The Proposition, William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Dwight Rhoden’s Artifice, Sasha Janes’ Last Lost Chance, Mark Diamond’s Bolero, Jacqulyn Buglisi’s Requiem 9. 11 and the Lilac Fairy in Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s Sleeping Beauty. Melissa has premiered two original pieces of choreography, Artificially Exposed and Yappos at Paalam with North Carolina Dance Theatre.
