Jan. 23 – Feb. 15, 2014 / 701 N. Tryon Theater

The popular Innovative Works series challenges the dancers and audiences with new choreography of diverse styles. The intimate 701 N. Tryon Theater gives audiences an unprecedented viewing experience and access to the dancers and artists. New this season, NC Dance Theatre is partnering with local visual, performing and musical artists to collaborate on the creation of each ballet. Choreographers Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Mark Diamond, Sasha Janes and Dwight Rhoden are selecting partners whose work will appeal to Charlotte’s diverse community. Join us at Innovative Works for the results of these collaborations – thought-provoking, cutting-edge and exhilarating dance.

  • Contrast by Mark Diamond, with live music by guitarist Troy Conn.
  • Transformation by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Quentin “Q” Talley, from On Q Productions, which combines ballet and spoken word
  • Sasha Janes’ new work, Chaconne, uses seven dancers and music by Bach.
