Docent is derived from the Latin word docere, meaning “to teach.”
Ballet docents are trained volunteers who help “educate” the community-at-large about the ballet through educational outreach programs.

- Lead behind-the-scenes tours
- Serve as greeters for special education and outreach events
- Serve as ambassadors, promoting the art form
- Attend training sessions to learn about Dance Theatre’s performances and specific education and outreach programs
