A native Charlottean, David trained with North Carolina Dance Theatre School of Dance under Sabrina Berry, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Mark Diamond, Kati Hanlon Mayo and Kathryn Moriarty. Prior to joining NC Dance Theatre, David spent his summers training at The Chautauqua Institute and danced with NC Dance Theatre 2 for two seasons. David’s choreography has been performed around the United States and has been recognized by various awards and accolades. He choreographs annually on the North Carolina Dance Theatre Repertory Ensemble and the Chautauqua Festival Dancers. His work has been presented at Regional Dance America, South Eastern Regional Ballet Association (SERBA) for five years. Regional Dance America awarded him the Habich-Corey Choreography Award and the Project Tier Award for Excellence in Choreography. In 2011, he was asked to create a work for the School of American Ballet through the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of The New York City Ballet. Also an accomplished pianist, David currently serves as a ballet class accompanist at NC Dance Theatre, The Chautauqua Institution, and SERBA. He has served as a guest accompanist for Alvin AileyAmerican Dance Theatre and The New York City Ballet.
