AUDITIONS

North Carolina Dance Theatre is a Charlotte-based, world class repertory dance ensemble. It performs classic, contemporary and cutting-edge dance with virtuosity, energy, and artistic excellence for local, statewide and national audiences. Dance Theatre’s collective talents provide the opportunity and give us the responsibility to challenge, stimulate, educate, entertain, and thereby enrich our audiences.

Auditions are intended for classically trained dancers who have performing experience with a professional company. Dancers wishing to be considered as Apprentices or Trainees should reference North Carolina Dance Theatre School’s audition website for information on auditions and video submissions.

North Carolina Dance Theatre Summer Intensive Internship

The Summer Intensive Intern is a key member of the School of Dance staff. Reporting directly to the Pre-Professional Division Administrator, the intern provides important support for the program and works directly with the School of Dance staff, director, faculty and summer intensive dancers. This is a wonderful opportunity to go behind-the-scenes with one of the Nation’s premier dance programs and gain useful experience in school administration. Required Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and experience in an administration office is strongly preferred
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and self motivation, including the ability to work independently
  • Basic understanding of administrative tasks (faxing, photocopying, verbal communication/phone skills, etc.) and experience using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work with students ages 11 and older
  • Knowledge of dance and dance terminology recommended but not required

Status: Part-time, Internship (Unpaid)

Marketing and Communications Internship

North Carolina Dance Theatre seeks a Marketing & Communications Intern. This internship is best completed during the company performance season, typically spanning September through April. Summer only internships are not available.

Ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Experience, education in and a passion for marketing, communications and public relations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • A creative sense

Marking and Communications Intern duties will include:

  • Develop and edit marketing materials such as direct mail pieces, playbills, print ads, web ads, flyers and posters.
  • Creating content for social media outlets.   
  • Assist with archiving print materials samples.
  • Ability to communicate with printers, publications, graphic designer, the media and the community as a representative of Dance Theatre.
  • Develop communications and press releases.
  • Assist marketing department with special events and at performances.
  • Other daily tasks for the marketing department as assigned. 

Compensation – This is an unpaid internship but, besides great experience, the intern will receive two complimentary tickets to Dance Theatre performances and will be able to take North Carolina Dance Theatre School of Dance Open Division classes while they are a current intern.

Schedule - The schedule for this internship will be flexible but could include minimal weekends and evenings for special events and performances.
