The School's Open Division class schedule offers a variety of dance disciplines. These are ideal for beginners who want to try a class or former dancers wanting to return to their passion. First visit for new students is free to any drop-in open class.

Class Descriptions
Dance To Be Fit
In a relaxed and fun atmosphere, this 60 minute class fuses fundamental principles of fitness and dance. It integrates Pilates and many core ballet exercises that give dancers their beautiful physique. The workout is easy on the joints, increases flexibility and establishes better posture. With plenty of cardio for boosting energy, the exercises are designed to sculpt a lean, long and strong body.
POWER DANCE
“Getting it all done” has never been such fun with this all inclusive ‘work out’ class. Using techniques found in body sculpting, power dance and yoga, this class will focus on reshaping the muscles, strengthening cardio vascular fitness and increasing flexibility.
BARRE NONE
Utilizing the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements, this class combines elements of yoga, Pilates, ballet and strength training. This comprehensive class does it all....burn fat, lift, sculpt and strengthen. Come frazzled; leave fit and focused.
aDULT Beginning Ballet
Experience the joy of movement and creative expression while learning the fundamentals of classical ballet.
ADULT Intermediate Ballet
Building from the foundations of Adult Beginning Ballet this class increases technique, body alignment and balletic expression.
Adult Pointe
The intent of this class is to build the articulation of the foot and ankle and the physical strength required for pointe work.
Modern Fundamentals
Concentration on use of breath and core strength while developing spatial relationship and awareness, rhythmic patterning and the beginning of the vocabulary of modern dance.
Jazz Fundamentals
Students will study rhythm, syncopation, isolation and improvisation while moving to upbeat music. Students gain strength, endurance, flexibility and coordination.
Adult Beginning Tap
Spirit Square
This class lays the foundation for solid tap technical skills through rhythm combinations and choreography.
Adult Intermediate Tap
Spirit Square
This class expands on Beginning Tap with more complexity in rhythm, movement and movement sequencing.
Zena Rommett Floor-Barre Technique®
Floor- Barre® is a gentle highly effective method for correcting and refining body alignment.The
movements are executed primarily lying on the floor establishing the pelvis and back; allowing the shoulders and pelvis to align with the legs and feet. Without the strain of gravity to contend with individuals tend to release their habitual tensions and can solely focus on the proper usage of the musculature.
Afro-Caribbean*
Students experience movement and rhythms from the Caribbean. This exhilarating and fun class fuses traditional African, Caribbean and Latin American movements with classic modern technique from Katherine Dunham. April Berry, former principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and a certified “master” teacher in the Dunham technique, leads the class.
Hip Hop Dance*
Students will experience a fusion of movement styles such as funk, pop, west coast and African dance set to popular music.

Dance Card Policy
NO REFUNDS on dance cards for any reason, including illness, injury, a move or lost or stolen cards. Cards are non-transferable and may be used only by the person whose name is printed on the card.
Cards may be purchased at the door before class or over the phone by credit card. Cards ordered by phone will not be mailed, but will be held for pick up at the front desk in the student’s name. Students must present card at sign-in desk. Student will not be allowed to take class without card.
Adult Division Attendance Policy
Consistent attendance is vital to achieve maximum results and progression in dance training. Although drop-ins are welcome, students in the Open Division are encouraged to attend class regularly. The School of Dance requires at least five students to regularly be present in class in order for the class to be held throughout the year. If a class consistently has low attendance in September, students will receive a 30 day notice of the class cancellation. The class will then be cancelled at the end of October unless more students have begun to attend.
